Summer doesn’t always feel like “candle season,” but I’ve always loved burning them this time of year.

There’s something about a fresh, fruity scent drifting through the house on a warm evening, windows open, the day winding down—it feels different than winter candles. Lighter. Brighter. More relaxed.

What Summer Smells Like to Me

Summer on the farm has its own rhythm and its own scent. Fresh air, warm evenings, and that feeling of slowing down just a little at the end of the day.

I find myself reaching for candles that match that mood—nothing too heavy, nothing overpowering. Just something that adds a little warmth and a little personality to a space.

A Favorite Summer Scent: Blueberry

One scent I always come back to this time of year is blueberry. There’s something about it that feels nostalgic and simple—like something you’d find at a roadside stand or pick fresh on a warm afternoon.

Our Red, White & Blueberry Wood Wick Candle is inspired by that feeling. It has a fresh, sun-ripened blueberry scent with just a hint of sweetness that isn’t too strong, just enough to make a space feel inviting.

The wood wick adds a soft crackle, which makes it especially nice in the evenings, and the Americana-style tin gives it that classic summer feel without needing much else around it.

Adding Small Details to Summer Spaces

I’ve always believed it’s the small details that make a home feel pulled together. A simple candle, a familiar scent, something that adds just a little extra without overcomplicating things.

Even in the summer, when everything feels more casual, those small touches still matter. They help create a space that feels lived in and intentional.

That same mindset carries into everything we do here at Chickenmash Farm—whether it’s something we make by hand or something we’ve found along the way. It’s all about choosing pieces that feel right and bring a little meaning into everyday life.
