What I’ve Noticed While Collecting Vintage Men’s Ties

I’ve recently started sourcing vintage men’s ties, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite things to look for.

At first, I didn’t know much about them. I wasn’t looking for specific brands or styles—I was just drawn to them. And the more I’ve picked them up, the more I’ve started to notice something else entirely.

The Stories Behind Vintage Ties

Every tie feels like it belonged to a moment in someone’s life.

When I’m going through a collection, I can’t help but wonder who wore them. Was it a daily routine—getting dressed every morning, choosing a tie before heading off to work? Or were some of them saved for something important, like a job interview, a wedding, or a special occasion?

There’s something about seeing a full collection that feels familiar too. It reminds me a little of how we think about shoes or purses—collected over time, each one chosen for a reason, even if that reason has been forgotten.

Why I’m Drawn to Them

I think what stands out to me most is the variety. Colors, patterns, textures—some are bold, some are simple, and some feel like they belong to a completely different era.

Even without knowing the full background, you can tell that each one had a purpose. It was worn, chosen, and part of someone’s day-to-day life.

A New Appreciation for Small Details

Vintage ties have given me a new appreciation for details I might not have noticed before. Something as simple as a tie can completely change an outfit, adding personality without being over the top.

And just like so many of the things we find, they carry a sense of history with them. They’re not just accessories—they’re small pieces of someone’s routine and identity.

As I’ve started listing these, I’ve found myself thinking less about what I know and more about what they represent. Who wore them, what they meant, and how something so simple can still feel meaningful today.

That’s part of what we love most about sourcing here at ChickenMash Farm—finding pieces like these and giving them another chance to be part of someone’s story.
