Ever wonder what the animals are up to on the farm this time of year? Well, grab your overalls and straw hat, because we're about to take a trip down to the barnyard to see what's been happening!

Are the Chickens Clucking?

Those feathery ladies are certainly busy laying eggs like it's their job (well, it kind of is). The coop is bustling with activity as they scratch around for seeds. It's like a chicken dance party in there! Dust bath, they are making holes and rolling around. In Ohio we get a warm winter day every now and then so the girls think it's spring and they want to hide eggs to set on and hatch out.

What's the Buzz with the Bees?

The bees are tucked in for the winter. Honey supers are removed and replace with a quilt box lined with burlap to absorb moisture.

How's Old MacDonald's Garden Growing?

This is the time of year we are adding compost, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea bag and vegetable scraps. Time to start planning for spring crops and what seedlings to start.

Any Shenanigans in the Goat Barn?

You better believe it! They are curious and ready to be outside enjoying warm days. Our little Rosie keeps getting on the side of the barn she doesn't belong on. Then yells and knocks over hay bales trying to get back to LulaBelle and Louie.

What's the Deal with Chores?

Chores never end. Fresh water in the winter is a must. Cleaning buckets is more challenging this time of year but it's got to be done. Filling hay and supplementing with grain for these long winter months is a must.

So, there you have it - a peek into the wild and wonderful world of the farm this time of year. From clucking chickens to busy bees, there's never a dull moment down on the farm. So, next time you see a goat out this time of year, give 'em a wave and say, "Spring is on the way".
