We have received many wonderful questions over the years. Chickenmash Farm has been a labor of love since 2003, beginning shortly after we brought home our first dairy goat, Star. What started as a way to provide fresh milk, butter, and cheese for our family grew into a passion for handcrafted skincare. Today, we remain a small family business dedicated to quality, tradition, and the goodness of God.
Why the name Chickenmash Farm?
This is our most-asked question! Our last name is Mash, and we started our journey with a few chickens for fresh eggs. When we added our first milk goat, the name simply fell into place. Chickens started it all, and with a name like Mash, we became Chickenmash Farm.
How many goats do you have?
We live on a small micro-farm, so we typically keep between 6 and 8 goats at a time. This allows us to give them plenty of room to roam and enjoy life. Our goats are truly part of the family; they are fed a specialized diet ofNon-GMO grainsand are never milked while pregnant so they can focus their energy on their babies.
What makes your soap and lotion different?
Freshness:We use fresh, whole milk from our own goats in every single bar of soap. We never use a water base or "cut" our milk.
The Cold Process Method:We use the "old-fashioned" cold process method (like Grandma made). This ensures we never overheat the milk, preserving all the vitamins and minerals for your skin.
Premium Sourcing:For our waterless products like ourLotion Sticks, we useGrass-Fed Goat Milk Powderto provide a shelf-stable, preservative-free moisturizer packed with antioxidants.
Clean Standards:All our products are Paraben-Free, GMO-Free, and SLS-Free.
How long does your soap last?
We cure our soaps for at least six weeks to create a firm, long-lasting bar. To get the most out of your soap, we recommend keeping it dry between uses. Our balanced blend of coconut oil, babassu oil, and beeswax creates a hard bar that stands up to daily use.
How do I care for my Wood Wick Candles?
Our 6 oz travel tins offer a conservative burn time of 20–25 hours. For the best experience, keep your candle out of drafts. If you have trouble relighting the wood wick, simply trim the charred wood close to the wax and ensure the flame reaches all the way across the wick.
