Why We Still Make Goat Milk Soap the Way We Do

We started out with chickens and eventually added goats to our small homestead. With extra milk and a desire to live a more self-sufficient lifestyle, we began making our own soap.

That’s really how Chickenmash Farm started.

Over the years, a lot has changed—but one thing we haven’t changed is how we make our goat milk soap and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Our Process Hasn’t Changed

We still use the cold process method, and we still allow our soaps to cure for a full six weeks before they ever reach the shelf.

It takes more time. It’s not the fastest way to produce soap, but it’s something we believe in. That extra time allows the soap to fully develop into what it’s meant to be—gentle, long-lasting, and well-balanced.

That part has never changed for us.

Keeping the Focus on Goat Milk

Ingredients may shift slightly over time as we learn and pay attention to what people are looking for, but one thing stays the same—the milk is always the focus.

We never cut it with water.

That’s something we’ve been consistent about from the beginning, because it’s what makes goat milk soap feel different.

Simple Living with a Touch of Luxury

I’ve always been drawn to simple living. Slowing things down, doing things by hand, and keeping things as straightforward as possible.

But at the same time, goat milk soap has always felt like a small kind of luxury to me.

It’s smooth, creamy, and soft on your skin in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve used it. It’s one of those simple things that still feels special.

And that’s really what we aim for—something practical, something made with care, but also something that feels just a little elevated in everyday life.

That same approach carries into everything we do here at Chickenmash Farm, from the way we raise our animals to the things we make and share. It all starts with intention and a willingness to do things the slower, more thoughtful way.
